This article explains how external conditions are all properties and characteristics of our positions that we cannot directly control. These conditions affect our progress toward our goals, bringing us either nearer or further from our goals depending on their direction more than our own desires. There are a vast number of conditions in the environment that are outside of our direct control. The first problem is knowing which of these conditions are important to our position. Do we recognize all the key conditions that affect us? All external conditions cannot be known, but which conditions must we know in order to make decisions? Are we distracted by events that are of no strategic importance? The next problem is knowing how to make sense of all these various conditions. How do we put them together to create a complete picture of our situation?
