This article explains that, in competitive environments, our actions produce their results through other people's reactions. We act strategically in order to create a reaction from others. Our challenge is that people's reactions are not predictable in any absolute sense. Competitive environments are defined by the fact that people are free to act and react in any way that they desire. If we consistently fail to predict the way that others will respond to our actions, we cannot successful advance our position.
