This article explains that when we evaluate potential opportunities, we must consider what it means to have a great deal of holding power either in our current position or in a future position. Extreme holding power in our current position creates an unseen danger in moving on from where we are. Moving into a position with holding power offers both benefit and challenges. The biggest danger is not understanding what we are getting into. Whenever people talk about a "lack of an exit strategy," they are talking about the problems encountered in positions with extreme holding power.
