This article explains how changes in climate create the conditions where new opponents to arise. Strangely enough, both improving and worsening conditions can change allies into opponents. Our vulnerability is to conditions in the environment, but rivals and opponents play a critical role in transforming those conditions into a fire storm against us. The danger is that do not understand who our potential enemies are, trusting current allies for the wrong reasons. That danger is magnified as conditions get more challenging because we can too easily give them the time to use those conditions against us.
