The Art of War: Warrior Rules - winning by comparing positions

Sun Tzu offers hundreds of rules for different competitive situations. This tool asks you questions about your situation and finds the specific rules (and Sun Tzu quote) that address its most important elements. This tool also trains you to use Sun Tzu more instinctively.

How to Use

(Experienced users can simply use the Knowledge Menu pullout menus to find the right Rules.)

1. This tool asks questions about your current competitive situation.
2. Click on the answer below the question and the link takes to the next question.
3. Your answers take you to the rules that have the highest priority for you to learn.
4. The most general rule sets appear first, their Rule Book number and name listed below your answer. To view the relevant general quote from Sun Tzu and a description of the detailed rules, click to expand. (See example below).

   Situation: 

   Sun Tzu's strategy explains competition as comparisons of the objects that we call 'positions.' The science of strategy is the study of competitive positions. This study analyses positions individually and as groups. It dissects individual positions into pieces, but it also looks at how a group of positions interact in the competitive environment. Like molecules or atomic particles, positions have specific characteristics. Though each competitive positions is unique, we can analyze and compare positions. We can discuss how positions "work" because we can discuss their common characteristics. All positions are a unique combination of characteristics because no two positions can have the same place at the same time.  Like all molecules consist of elemental atoms, all positions consist of elements that we can instantly recognize and evaluate. Given their components, positions will interact with other positions in predictable ways. We can make decisions about the relative value and strength of various positions on the basis of these characteristics.

5. SOSI members can access the actual rules set by clicking on the title in the description once it is expanded.
6. To get more detailed rules sets, continue clicking on the answers rather than the more general rules.
7. When multiple answers are appropriate, choose the most relevant first, then and return to explore the other branches of your situation.
