"Offer men safety and they will stay calm.
Endanger them and they will act.
"
Sun Tzu's The Art of War 5:5:13-14
Situation:
According to Sun Tzu, only emotional energy spurs action. To win rewards, we require action from our supporters. This means that we must trigger emotions in supporters without inflaming the emotions of our opponents. The problem is our own emotions. Uncontrolled, they can either amplify or dampen the emotions of others. Most of us don't think of our emotions as tools to be used. These uncontrolled emotions are as likely to inflame the emotions of our opponents while discouraging the emotions of our supporters. The failure to get rewarded is often the fault of misusing the levers of emotion.
I need to know how to better get the attention of others to win rewards .8.6 Winning Attention 8.6 Winning Attention
"You can speak, but you will not be heard.
You must use gongs and drums.
"
Sun Tzu's The Art of War 7:4:2-3
Situation:
In today's increasingly crowded environment, more and more people are competing for attention. We need people to recognize us in order to reward us. We must get people’s attention before we can get their support. If people are unaware of us, they cannot support us. People hear only what they want to hear. It requires work to get people to hear our claims. We must compete in an environment full of claims. This makes getting attention when we need it that much more difficult. Getting time with people is hard enough, but making an impression is even harder.
