The Philosophical Filter [1]

Continuing the last post about why people are unable to correctly analyze positions, let us talk about the philosophical barriers to perception. Successful strategic philosophies cannot filter out contrary information. That route leads to sudden unexpected collapses, what I think of as Louis XVI [2]failures. For example, recent reports in the New York Times by dependable liberals [3]of progress in Iraq is simply not believed among those (examples here [4]and here [5] and here [6]) whose basic philosophy simply does not allow for such a possibility. What happens to this political segments if a military turnaround in Iraq becomes unquestionable? If I were a Democratic politician, I would at least allow for the possibility.
