This article explains how Sun Tzu simplified strategy by developing the idea of positions with boundaries. Positions can only be advanced by crossing boundaries in one way or another. Each of us has a strategic position, but few of us understand clearly how positions are acquired and developed by crossing boundaries. Our educational systems teaches us very little about how to explore competitive landscapes while trying to teach us about how to exploit them. This method fails because we cannot understand how to best utilize our position without understand the process by which better competitive positions are discovered and controlled.
