This article explains that we want to see opportunities so we can take advantage of them. We want to know the size of opportunities so we can invest in them. We want to find predictable patterns that make the future predictable. Out of our desires, we imagine things that do not exist. In psychology, this is known as the clustering illusion, the perception of patterns that do not exist. Investment bubbles that explode are one of the common dangers of seeing opportunities where they do not exist.
