This article explains why our need for resources can seem to be a serious obstacle to advancing our position when it really isn't. An opportunity requires two components: an opening in the environment and the resources to move into it. These resources take many different forms. A new job requires qualifications. A new business requires capital. The problem is that we too often think about advancing our position by the force of resources rather than on finesse of strategy.
