This article examines moves as part of a campaign. In The Art of War, what we call "a campaign" is what Sun Tzu simply calls a "war." For our purposes of adapting Sun Tzu's rules more broadly, "campaign" describes the idea more generally. The challenge is that many opportunities cannot be pursued by a single move. The fact that related moves can be tied together, leads, unfortunately, to much of the confusion between planning and strategy. Changing circumstances can easily make both plans and campaigns irrelevant, but that fact cannot let us ignore this powerful tool of strategy.
