This article explains why not all our explorations of openings are going to be successful. Our explorations fail because for two major reasons. First, the nature of the opening may not offer any real rewards. Second, we are too slow in finding out how to make that opportunity pay. Being too slow opens us up two types of failure 1) the competition beats us or 2) we run out of resources. The first problem comes from our limited knowledge. The second comes from our limited skill.
