This article explains that, when we participate in a controlled process, our expectations are nothing more than assuming everyone else involved will do their job. In the chaotic arena of competition, the term "expectation" takes on a different meaning. We have no overall specification of anyone's responsibilities before we come to an agreement with them. Everyone's decisions regarding their commitments depend upon their own individual goals and the conditions that affect them over time. What do we expect them to do? Only to behave in accordance with their own best interests as they see those interests.
