This article starts with the fact that perception is not reality, but it is a key strategic component of reality . Our challenge is having people recognize the greatest value of our position. Just because we understand the value of our position doesn't mean that others will. This is particularly a problem when we have recently advanced our position--taken on new responsibilities at work, brought out new products, become more committed to a relationship, etc. The problem is that others always tend to continue to think of us in terms of where we were rather than where we are today.
