This article starts with the fact that perception is not reality, but it is a key strategic component of reality. Our challenge is having people recognize the greatest value of our position. Just because we understand the value of our position doesn't mean that others will. This is particularly a problem when we have recently advanced our position--taken on new responsibilities at work, brought out new products, become more committed to a relationship, etc. The problem is that others always tend to continue to think of us in terms of where we were rather than where we are today.
